Case Study: Married Couple Protected Family Assets

How a married couple with an estate worth over £650,000 protected their family assets

Mr and Mrs M read about the new Inheritance Tax (IHT) allowance in the newspapers and wanted to find out how it would apply to them.

They consulted Will Power to understand how they might benefit.

Mr and Mrs M told Will Power that they wished to protect their family assets in a flexible trust for the future.

An In-Depth Investigation

Will Power made an in-depth investigation into their circumstances and concluded that they needed to include two Trusts in their Wills to achieve their objectives.

The First Trust

The first Trust ensures that the full extra allowance is available on a sufficient part of their property, as it will be inherited directly by their children on the second death.

The Second Trust

The second Trust was to act as a flexible Trust for the balance of assets in the estate.

Mr and Mrs M were pleased with this result and the specialist expertise provided by Will Power. They were delighted that the professional advice provided cost nothing, paying only to prepare the required legal documents. The resulting Inheritance Tax Saving (IHT) significantly offset the fee to Will Power.

“We would like to commend Will Power for a job well done. They have exceeded my expectations and I would most certainly recommend them wholeheartedly.”
